After GATE Exam

Some students have a doubt regarding what to do after GATE exam. Some of the points to be followed after successful completion of GATE exam are given below:

  • After publication of results, the students should apply to different institutes for getting application forms.
  • Most of the top rated institutes, advertise in newspapers regarding the issue of application forms and generally these advertisements can be found during the month of April to July. Some institutes do not advertise, in that case the students should contact the institute to get the information regarding the application forms.
  • In the application form the students will be required to mention their GATE score along with other details.
  • The institutes follow different methods to admit students. Some institutes might conduct written test for the students and some might admit the students on the basis of interview.
  • If the GATE score is more than 96% the students might get admission in Indian Institute of Technology, in case the score is between 85-96% to students might get admission in top Regional Engineering Colleges and if the score is less than 85% the students can get admission in self-financing colleges.
  • Some universities also have mandated the GATE score for admission apart from IITs.

The GATE score card will contain the marks obtained by the student, percentile score, the GATE score and All India Rank. The GATE committee will send the score card only to qualifying students. The students can make use of the score card for one year only, but the score is valid for two years. Therefore, the students will have to get a new score card by sending a request letter to the GATE committee with a fee of Rs.300. So, students in the third year of the degree course can also apply for the GATE exam since the score is valid for two years.
